Youth Counselors
Did you know? Family Centered Services of Alaska’s (FCSA) Family Homes provide quality residential care to male and female youth ages 12-18 that are experiencing mental health and behavioral issues and are at imminent risk of psychiatric placement outside of their community. The family atmosphere of these homes helps these children avoid the stigmatization that often accompanies youth living in an institutional setting. FCSA staffs these homes with dedicated, caring employees who provide unconditional therapeutic care and supervision of up to five youth per home. We are currently seeking Youth Counselors to assist us with this mission. If you are seeking a challenging position that can absolutely make a positive change in a kid’s life, we want to talk with you! These are entry level positions that require an Associate’s Degree or equivalent work and/or educational experience in a human service field. Two years of experience working with children who experience a mental health disability is strongly preferred. Both full time and part time positions are available and do require a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, & overnights. FCSA offers excellent starting pay, benefits, and retirement package. FCSA is an EEO employer.
Part Time
Family Centered Services of Alaska is seeking 2 part time Residential Youth Counselors at our Residential Diagnostic Treatment Center. This facility provides quality residential and therapeutic services to severely emotionally disturbed children and youth 10-17 years of
age who are at high risk of out-of-state placement. Foster Care
Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) has full-time and part-time therapeutic foster care available for clients and families as part of our continuum of care. Children must be accepted into a FCSA program in order to be placed in an FCSA foster home or use our respite services.
For full-time foster care, generally only one foster child is placed in a home. The average length of stay is approximately one year, though this varies. We also offer part-time therapeutic foster care and respite care for our clients and families. This is available to foster parents and, if available, biological parents. Respite care is generally just for a weekend and provides a break for the parents. Respite care allows the client an opportunity to stay over night with a therapeutic family and do fun activities.
If you are interested in becoming an FCSA therapeutic foster parent or would like more information about our foster care program, please contact Vicki Blankenship at (907) 479-9511. We provide training, support and excellent pay to our foster parents.
